Appellate Litigation

Ransom Blackman LLP has an active appellate practice. We have represented individuals before the Oregon Court of Appeals, the Oregon Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, including its en banc court. In addition, Ms. Matthews participated in Georgetown University Law Center’s Appellate Litigation Clinic before serving as a judicial clerk for Hon. Rex Armstrong on the Oregon Court of Appeals. Marc Blackman likewise served as a judicial clerk for Oregon Supreme Court Justice Kenneth O’Connell.

Ransom Blackman LLP handles direct criminal appeals, as well as appeals of post-conviction and administrative rulings. Often times, we have represented our clients before the trial court or administrative board before handling the appeal. We also commonly conduct “transcript reviews,” reviewing the trial transcripts of a matter to help our client determine whether a direct appeal is the logical next step.
